Yes, your session includes personal-use rights, which means you’re welcome to share the images on social media. Please avoid applying heavy filters or making major edits. When posting, feel free to tag me using “@the.canon.timeline” and/or mention “Photography by Jay” in the caption — credits are always appreciated!

Usage rights explain how you’re allowed to use your photos. You’ll get full personal-use rights, which means you can post online, print them, and share them with family and friends — no extra cost.
-
An image license is basically permission to use images in certain ways. All sessions come with a personal-use license by default. If you’d like to use your photos for commercial purposes (like advertising or branding), just let me know — I offer separate licensing options.

Image Licensing and Usage Q&A
Q: Who owns the photos from my session?
A: I retain full copyright to all images, as the photographer. This is standard across the industry. However, you’ll receive a license that allows you to use the photos for personal purposes, such as posting and sharing on social media.
Q: Can I use my images for commercial or promotional purposes?
A: Not without a commercial license. If you’d like to use your images for advertising, marketing, or other business opportunities, reach out and I’ll be happy to discuss commercial licensing options.
Q: Will my photos be used in your portfolio or social media?
A: Possibly! I love showcasing my work and may include images from your session on my website, Instagram, or other social media pages. If you’d prefer your photos remain private, just let me know before your session — no problem at all.
Q: What can I do with the images I receive?
A: You’re welcome to share the images on social media, print them for personal use, and use them for non-commercial promotion (such as a personal blog or online profile). Please give credit when possible!
Q: Can I edit or apply filters to the images myself after I receive them?
A: For best results and brand consistency, I ask that clients avoid altering the images beyond simple cropping. Any major edits, filters, or AI-based changes made after the fact are not the result of my work and may violate the terms of use. If you are unhappy with the edits to your images, please talk with me after image delivery and I will re-edit them free of charge to make sure you are happy with and proud of the final product.
Refunds, Cancellations & Rescheduling Q&A
Q: What’s your cancellation policy?
A: You may cancel your session up to 48 hours in advance without any additional charges. For sessions that require a deposit, the deposit is non-refundable. For session types that do not require a deposit, a full refund will be issued if the cancellation is made at least 48 hours before the scheduled time. Cancellations made within 48 hours may result in the forfeiture of any paid amount.
Q: What if I’m running late?
A: I understand sometimes things happen. If you are running late, please contact me as soon as possible to provide an updated ETA. If I am not contacted, I allow a 15-minute grace period. After that, the session may be shortened or rescheduled depending on availability.
Q: Are deposits refundabale?
A: Deposits are non-refundable, but they can be transferred to a rescheduled session if you notify me in time. Some sessions do not require a deposit — if you cancel one of those with enough notice, your full payment will be refunded.
Q: Can I reschedule my session?
A: Absolutely! Just provide at least 48 hours’ notice, and we’ll find a new date and time that works. Emergencies and weather-related changes are handled on a case-by-case basis.
Q: What happens if the photographer cancels?
A: If I have to cancel due to illness, emergency, or other unseen events, you’ll receive a full refund, or or option to reschedule — whichever you prefer.
Q: What if the weather is bad for our outdoor shoot?
A: If weather conditions affect your session, I’ll work with you immediately to reschedule your session at a date and time that works for you.
